A week ago, Jobs resigned as chief executive of arguably the industry leader in technology. With the announcement, Apple shares dropped in value. It's a credit to Jobs' work as leader of the computer giant.
Jobs started his career with Atari, much as I started my video game career at 8 in front of a 16-inch black-and-white television screen. As a teenager, I sold my fully functional Atari, along with a full library of games in a yard sale. Regrettably, my so-called upgrade to Nintendo would prove to be a disaster as I constantly struggled to get games to play properly.
My first computer class in high school (yes, they had computers back then) was filled with learning basic programming on the Apple IIe. As Jobs continued his work to upgrade Mac technology, I worked to design the perfect Christmas tree by mapping coordinates on a green computer screen and feeding them into my program.
